CM Jagan Promises Internet Facility to 45,000 State Schools

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has asked officials to ensure that there are two government junior colleges in each mandal, of which one for girls and the other co-education.

Two high schools should be set up in two villages or towns in each mandal where the population is high and they should be upgraded to junior colleges, the CM advised the officials.

The government would provide Internet facilities to 45,000 schools, the Chief Minister stated at a review meeting on Education here on Thursday. He released the Academic Calendar 2023-24. The schools would reopen on June 12.

The calendar comprises the academic schedule, details of the principal, teachers’ duties, language club, mela, labs, lesson plan format and guidelines, learn-a-word-a-day, Telugu language week, cultural activities and such details.

The Chief Minister said, “Internet facility should be made available in all the 45,000 schools. Steps are being taken in this direction with APSFL. The BSNL would be asked to provide the facility.

The Internet facility to schools covered under the first phase of Nadu Nedu is complete and by September it will be extended to all schools.

All steps have been taken for distribution of the Jagananna Vidya Deevena kits for the fourth consecutive year, the CM said, adding that 93 per cent of the material reached the intended destination.

Officials said the second semester books are also ready for distribution in advance. In village and ward secretariats, digital assistants will take care of the maintenance and use of tabs.

The Chief Minister had a close look at the Jagananna Animutyalu state excellence awards 2023 medals to be given to the Class X and Intermediate final year students of government institutions, who excelled in the exams.

The Jagananna Animutyalu Awards would be presented to the students in three phases — at constituency level on June 15, district level on June 17 and state level on June 20. The top 10 ranks were bagged by 64 students this year, officials informed the CM.

Jagan Mohan Reddy reviewed the distribution of the Jagananna Vidya Kanuka kits, Nadu Nedu IFP Panels for schools covered under the Nadu Nedu’s first phase and adequate training to teachers on the use of tabs, apart from Internet facility in all schools.

He also reviewed the works to be taken up under the second phase of Nadu Nedu.

Jagan Mohan Reddy asked the officials to ensure that every mandal has two junior colleges -- one for girls and the other a coeducation facility.

Depending on the population, the high schools should be upgraded to junior colleges and adequate class rooms should be built under Nadu Nedu, the CM said, adding that the junior colleges should be ready by June next year and sufficient staff should be recruited.

The Chief Minister said teachers should be given training on the use of IFP Panels and how to send video content.

The officials said company representatives will be giving a demo to the faculty of engineering colleges, who would in turn train the teachers.

About 20,000 BTech students would take internships and they will help teachers in using the panels, tabs of online education player’s content, and smart TVs every month, the officials said.

Stressing the need to ensure 100 per cent GER, the Chief Minister told the education officials to ensure that there are no dropouts and that they must take the help of village and ward volunteers in this respect.

He said, “Those who could not clear the 10th and 12th exams should be readmitted and encouraged. There should be constant feedback on Goru Muddha, SMF and TMF (school and toilet maintenance fund). Third party verification should be done and steps taken to include Byjus content in Intermediate and for distribution of tabs.”
