HPS Hostel: Minister to Meet Parents of Students on August 14
HYDERABAD: Telangana tribal welfare minister Satyavathi Rathod will hold a meeting with parents of students studying in Hyderabad Public School, Ramanthapur, regarding hostel facilities on August 14. The meeting was originally scheduled for July 21 but was cancelled due to incessant rains.
As there was no update regarding the revised date of the meeting, parents of socially and economically weaker students and activists, on the occasion of World Adivasi Day (August 9), submitted an application to enquire about the same.
"Though the government has ensured seats for several students from backward groups in the school, many of them aren't able to afford the exorbitant fees of private hostels. Also, the safety of female students is another concern. Hence, we have been demanding a hostel in or near the school campus. This is going to be a reality soon. The efforts of several parents and leaders like the national vice-president of All India Banjara Seva Sangh Amar Singh Tilawat have borne fruit. We hope that parents of all students of the school will make it to the meeting," said poet and Banjara activist Bhattu Venkanna, who along with Eslavath Ramchander Naik, chairman of Telangana State Scheduled Tribes Cooperative Finance Development Corporation, had submitted the representation on Wednesday.
