Over 10 lakh will take inter exams from Wednesday

VIJAYAWADA: AP chief secretary Dr. K.S. Jawahar Reddy on Saturday reviewed with district collectors, SPs and other officials arrangements for smooth conduct of intermediate examinations from Wednesday, March 15, to April 4.

Total 10,03,674 students will take their exams at 1,489 examination centres in 26 districts of the state. Timings of the exams will be 9 a.m. to 12 noon. While 4,84,012 students will appear for the first year exams; 5,19,662 will take their second year examinations.

The chief secretary said the season being summer, drinking water arrangements must be made at all examination centres. First-aid kits too must be kept ready. For every 20–25 exam centres, a 108 ambulance must remain stationed for deployment, if necessary.

Jawahar Reddy asked RTC officials to run special buses for convenience of students before and after exams on each day. He said sufficient buses must be run, so that students reach their exam centres on time.

The chief secretary asked collectors and SPs to make fool-proof measures to prevent leakage of exam papers and other malpractices. He said Xerox and photo-copying centres should be ordered closed near the examination centres.

Jawahar Reddy wanted electricity department to ensure uninterrupted power supply to all examination centres. The department must appoint a nodal officer who will coordinate with intermediate board officials in this regard.

School Education commissioner Suresh Kumar, Intermediate Board secretary Y.V. Seshagiri Babu, principal secretary (School Education) Praveen Prakash and RTC MD Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao were among those who participated in the meeting.
