CBSE announces class 10, 12 exam results
Hyderabad: After much waiting, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the results of the Class 10 & 12th board exams on Friday, with a pass percentage of 93.12 and 87.3 for classes 10 & 12 respectively.
Students can now check their results on results.cbse.nic.in and cbseresults.nic.in along with DigiLocker and UMANG apps. For those with internet connectivity issues, they can check their results via interactive voice response (IVRs) and SMS too. Over 16.9 lakh students appeared for the class 12 exam this year, conducted from February 15 to April 5, 2023 and 21.16 lakh students appeared for the 10th exams held from February 24 to March 10, 2023.
With 7.4 lakh female students and 9.51 lakh are male candidates, and 5 students are registered under the 'others' category, class 12 girls outshone boys with a 6.01 higher pass percentage at 90.68 per cent. For Class 10 exams too, girls surpassed boys by 1.98 percent. While the pass percentage for girls is 94.25 percent, the pass percentage for boys is 92.27 percent.
Students who passed the Class 10th CBSE examinations will now choose a stream from Science, Arts and Commerce, depending on marks obtained in Class 10th and their interest in a particular stream. The board will provide Digital Academic Documents viz. Marksheet cum Certificates, Migration Certificates, and Skill Certificates (wherever applicable) through its own digital academic repository 'Parinam Manjusha'
CBSE officials on Friday said that to prevent unhealthy competition among students, the merit list of Class 10 & 12 students will not be published. Also, the board did not award first, second or third divisions, but will award merit certificates to the 0.1 per cent students who have scored highest marks in subjects.
A total of 1,12,838 students (6.80 per cent) have scored 90 per cent or more marks in the Class 12 exams, while 1.36% of students scored 95% and above. For Class 10, over 2 lakh students score above 90 percentile and more than 44,000 students above 95 per cent marks.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated whom he called 'Exam Warriors' who successfully passed the board exams. "I am proud of these youngsters for their hardwork and determination. I also congratulate their parents and teachers for their monumental role in the success of the youngsters (sic)," he tweeted. In another tweet he added, "I would like to tell those bright youngsters who feel they could have done better in the Class XII exams - you have so much more to look forward to in the coming times. One set of exams doesn’t define you. Harness your talents in areas you are passionate about. You will shine!(sic)"
Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan too took to Twitter to congratulate students on their success in the CBSE Class XII examinations. "Many friends might not have met expectations. I appeal to them to not lose heart. One examination does not define a person’s ability. Keep working hard and chase your dreams. Success comes to those who never give up (sic)," he tweeted. He added that "over the years, a striking feature of the results have been the performance of girl students. Gladdening to learn that this years also girls have outshone boys. More reasons for us as a society to remove all barriers to girls’ education (sic)."
Those not satisfied with their results can apply for rechecking or revaluation of results and can appear for the supplementary exam (whose nomenclature has been changed from 'compartment' exam following National Education Policy - 2020 recommendation) which will be held in July 2023. CBSE will provide facilities to the students as provided in earlier years of getting their marks verified, obtaining photocopies, and re-evaluation. A separate notice on the same is to be issued soon, most likely on May 16.
CBSE result 2023 final marksheets will be available from the students respective schools. All the appeared students will have to get in touch with the schools to get the hard copy of the final marksheet, the board said in a statement.
CBSE board exams 2024 will begin on February 15, 2024.

As per a statement released, the exams were held for both class 10 and 12 students, with a total of 191 subjects being covered - class 10 exams were conducted for 76 subjects over a period of 16 days, while class 12 exams for 115 subjects were held for 36 days, ending on April 5.
