Andhra Pradesh to establish Skill University in Tirupati
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government is set to establish a skill university in Tirupati, Chief Secretary Dr K.S. Jawahar Reddy said on Monday. He was speaking at a review meeting with officials of various government departments in the Secretariat at Velagapudi.
Jawahar Reddy said that the government is taking steps to provide skill training and employment opportunities to a large number of youth under the Convergence Policy. He directed the officials to take necessary steps to establish the skill university in Tirupati and to provide skill training in various fields in coordination with industries and organisations.
He also said that the government is already running 26 skill training colleges in each parliamentary constituency across the state. In addition, various skill training programmes are being organised in 192 places, including tribal areas.
Jawahar Reddy said that the government is committed to providing quality skill training to the youth and making them job-ready. He asked the officials to work in coordination with the industries and other stakeholders to achieve this goal.
The meeting was attended by Education Commissioner Suresh Kumar, Skill Training Development Corporation CEO Vinod Kumar, Principal Secretary of Education Department Praveen Prakash, Principal Secretary of Handloom Textiles Department K. Sunitha, Secretary of Industries Department N. Yuvraj, Commissioner of Industries Praveen Kumar, and other officials.
