Inter students want state boards to follow NTA syllabus for competitive exams
Anantapur: With the CBSE revising its syllabus by removing several chapters and topics for the JEE and Neet, Intermediate students want the state board to follow suit to clear the ongoing confusion over the syllabus for national and state-level competitive examinations.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) in a release stated that the syllabus for JEE Main 2024 was revised and published the same on its official website jeemain.nta.ac.in. In it, some sub-topics were completely removed, while in a few instances, specific chapters were removed.
The reductions mainly pertain to physics, chemistry, botany, zoology and mathematics for the national exams, while the state government is continuing with them. Many colleges have also completed the syllabus now removed, as part of advance preparations.
“We have been asked to study all chapters, but suddenly several chapters and even few topics were deleted for JEE and Neet. We need to prepare the removed topics for board examinations,” Anjali, a student, said.
She said that since the Board of Intermediate Education has all chapters, the lack of uniformity has left them confused.
Students appealed to the state boards of AP and Telangana to follow the NTA’s syllabus.
Another student from Anantapur said that “even a single mark is valuable for JEE and Neet” but she cannot skip the excluded chapters as they were necessary to secure good marks in the board examinations.
In a few instances, students said that their colleges were yet to inform them about the reduction in syllabus.
