SRMU-AP gets 10 SERB-SURE projects

VIJAYAWADA: Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) has awarded 10 projects worth ₹2.50 crore to SRM University-AP.

SRMU vice chancellor Prof. Manoj K. Arora pointed out that DST had received about 2,000 proposals for research projects, of which 466 have been sanctioned. Of these, 151 projects got awarded to private universities. SRMU-AP has bagged 10 of these projects.

“This is a milestone achievement, which resonates with our university's unparalleled commitment for excellence. We are striving towards research-intensive learning to build cutting-edge innovation for a transformative tomorrow,” Prof. Manoj stated.

SRM Group executive director (Research) Prof. Narayana Rao said the grants have come for funding research in on-going domains, including Quantum Kinetic Approach, Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Profiling, and Changing of Hydro-Climatic Conditions in Bay of Bengal.

Prof. Narayana Rao explained that SERB-SURE (State University Research Excellence) is a research grant scheme that provides financial support to young researchers in early stages of their careers. The grants are intended to support research in basic and applied sciences, engineering, and technology. They are typically granted for a period of three years.

Dr. Sandeep Singh and Dr. Pitchaiah Cherukuri of Department of Biological Sciences; Dr. Sabyasachi Chakrabortty and Dr. V.S. Baswanth Oruganti of Department of Chemistry; Dr. Debabrata Pramanik, Dr. Ravi Kumar and Dr. Pankaj Bhalla of Department of Physics; Dr. Sandeep Kumar Verma of Department of Mathematics; Dr. Uma Maheswar Arepalli of Department of Civil Engineering; and Dr. Kousik Das of Department of Environmental Science and Engineering are among those who got the SERB-SURE grants.
