Jagan to felicitate 68 toppers in Class X, XII under Jagananna Animutyalu scheme

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy would felicitate 42 students who topped in the Class X examinations and 26 students who topped in the Intermediate examination, group-wise.

These toppers who studied in government and government-managed institutions would be honoured with ‘Jagananna Animutyalu’ awards at an event in the city on Tuesday.

They will be given a cash prize, a medal and a merit certificate each while their parents too will be felicitated with a shawl.

Twenty students from the higher education segment who exhibited academic excellence in five categories will be presented with ‘State Excellence Awards.’

The state government will also honour the headmasters/principals of the respective institutions with a shawl and a memento.

As part of ‘Jagananna Animutyalu’ programme, the government would present awards to a total of 22,710 students across the state. Class X, awards will be given to three meritorious students at state, district, constituency and school levels in each category (zilla parishad, municipal, model, tribal/social welfare residential) institutions.

In intermediate education, awards will be presented to students who secured first rank in each group like MPC, BiPC, HEC, CEC/MEC and state, district and constituency levels.

The state government felicitated the top three meritorious students in Class X exams-2022-23 at district, constituency and school levels from June 12 to 19. It spent a whopping Rs 60,329 crore for introducing a series of reforms in the education sector in the last four years.

“The government is continuing with such reforms to pave the way for a golden future to the students. This is resulting in a scenario of corporate schools trying to compete with government schools in terms of amenities and quality of education,” official sources claimed.

Under Jagananna Amma Vodi scheme, the state government is providing a financial assistance of Rs 15,000 per year to the poor and needy mothers to enable them send their children to schools from Classes I to XII.

AS part of Jagananna Vasathi Deevena, a financial aid of Rs 20,000 is being provided annually to each student, to meet his or her boarding and lodging expenses. Tabs are provided free of cost for Class VIII students. For students from Classes IV to X, free content from a private online education player is also being given, official sources explained.

Nearly 63,000 IFPs with private online education player’s content are being installed in all classes from Class VI and above in schools. Moreover, students are to be trained to improve their spoken English skills and to help them appear for TOEFL primary and TOEFL Junior exams; and an American certificate will be given to them.

Under the Jagananna Videshi Vidya Deevena, a total reimbursement of tuition fee of Rs 1.25 crore is being given to students to help them pursue higher education overseas.

In addition to it, to promote girls’ education, free sanitary napkins are also being given to them.

Under the YSR Kalyanamasthu/YSR Shaadi Tohfa scheme, it is mandatory for both bride and groom to pass Class X exam to avail the benefit, the sources pointed out.
