CM Jagan to Disburse Rs 42 cr Under Vidya Deevena

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy would deposit Rs 42.60 crore under Jagananna Videshi Vidya Deevena to the accounts of 390 eligible students pursuing overseas education, from his Camp Office in Tadepalli in online mode on Wednesday.

Under the Jagananna Civil Services Protsahakam, the chief minister would deposit Rs 100.50 lakh as cash incentive to 95 Civil Service aspirants who cleared Preliminary examination and to 11 candidates who cleared the Mains examination.

Jagananna Videshi Vidya Deevena aimed at enabling poor students to pursue quality overseas education, The YSRC government is reimbursing total fees up to Rs 1.25 crore to SC, ST, BC and Minority students and upto Rs 1 crore to other students. This is inclusive of airfare and Visa charges.

The facility is being extended to students who secured admissions in any of the 21 faculties viz. Engineering, Medicine, Law, Journalism, etc in the Top 50 universities based on QS World University / Times Higher Education rankings. This enables AP students to study in more than 320 top colleges around the world free of cost.

In the last 10 months, the total financial assistance provided under the Jagananna Videshi Vidya Deevena was Rs 107. 08 crore, benefitting 408 students.

The Jagananna Civil Services Protsahakam scheme is the first of its kind scheme directly benefiting the civil service aspirants. An incentive of Rs 1 lakh is given to those who clear the preliminary exam. An additional incentive of Rs 50,000 is offered to those who clear the Mains exam.

These cash incentives are meant to help the aspirants undergo coaching or self-preparation to crack the Civil Services Examination.

“While the previous TD government implemented the scheme, it benefited the coaching centres, but the Jagan-led YSRC government is ensuring that every eligible candidate is benefited and hence it is directly depositing the incentives into their bank accounts without any corruption or discrimination,” officials attached to the CM said.
