OU opens renewed computer centre

Hyderabad: The refurbished Dr Aziz A. Jamaluddin Computer Centre at Osmania University College of Arts and Social Sciences was inaugurated on Wednesday by vice-chancellor Prof D. Ravinder, Registrar Prof N. Lakshminarayana, and North American alumni — Dr Venkat Maroju, Dr Ravi Prakash Mayreddy, and Dr Raydas Manthena.

Initially established in 2008 with 45 computers donated by Dr Jamaluddin from the US, the centre has received an additional donation of 10 computers with internet access and significant support for its renovation from these North American alumni.

During the event, the alumni reflected on their personal journeys and emphasised the importance of giving back to their alma mater. Prof. Ravinder expressed gratitude to the proactive alumni who consistently contribute to the institution. He stressed the need for efficient systems to leverage alumni contributions and announced plans for Osmania University to visit US-based alumni and extend invitations for future programmes.

University leaders shared their experiences and highlighted ongoing resource needs. The committed alumni have pledged to facilitate connections between intellectual resources and faculty requirements to continuously enhance the university.
