Telangana Schools, Colleges to Remain Shut Due to Incessant Rains
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday declared two holidays for educational institutions on Wednesday and Thursday in view of the heavy rains and directed education minister Sabitha Indra Reddy to issue orders immediately.
The government had initially declared holidays on Thursday and Friday last in the city. On Saturday, the government extended the holiday statewide.
As per a circular sent to the state education department, Telangana chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has directed the state education minister Sabitha Indra Reddy to declare two days of holiday for schools and colleges in the state in view of the erratic weather conditions.
The government had come in for sharp criticism last week after the minister declared the holiday on Thursday last at 8.30 am after students had reached school. Keeping this in view, the government this time declared holidays in advance.
