Sangareddy DEO held on graft charges, illegal properties under lens
Hyderabad: Sangareddy district education officer Nampally Rajesh was held for graft changes after the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) raided his Hyderabad residence.
ACB officials said the DEO illegally amassed movable and immovable assets by indulging in corrupt practices. A disproportionate assets case was also registered against the official.
The raids came after Rajesh and a senior assistant, Nakka Rama Krishna Goud, were caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the PE teacher of St Arnold High School in Jyothinagar, for forwarding a proposal for an NoC for the school to shift to the ICSE syllabus to the Chief Secretary.
ACB officials said that Rajesh sought Rs 1.1 lakh in total, following which the PE teacher, Mamidi Soma Sekhar, filed a complaint with them.
