Work of teachers at SSC spot valuation centres hailed

VIJAYAWADA: In an online address on Wednesday, Principal Secretary to School Education, Praveen Prakash, thanked teachers for their “exemplary work” at 23 spot SSC valuation centres across the state. The teachers were spending almost eight hours a day, evaluating the exam papers, even when the temperatures were close to 40 degree Celsius, he said.

“I am just a call away on 9013133636 for any issues regarding school education,” he said.

Regarding the Parvathi Manyam district issue, where Mathematics-II textbooks were not provided to the 8th class students, he said 40 books were given within 12 hours of identifying the issue.

The PS advised teachers and officials to avoid such embarrassments in future.

Recalling his visit to the valuation centres in Guntur and Bapatla, Praveen Prakash said that pathetic conditions prevailed there. They lacked the basic standards for a valuation centre. A few officials had exhibited inertia in selecting those centres, instead of doing better by using technology and seeking support from other departments like police, revenue, energy etc, he said.

He opined that it is necessary to make 23 spot valuation centres the best in the country. The government took less than 12 hours to enhance by 50% the number of total valuators, so as to ease the workflow.

Prakash said two intense training programmes will be held for all the teachers to gear up for the next academic year. As requested by the teachers, a blended training programme in both online and offline will be given in 4-5 modules in using technology for tabs, interactive flat panels, smart TVs, Byju’s content and connectivity by the Higher Education Council.

The second programme includes training on Deeksha Platform for all Maths, Science and English teachers, with reputed institutions like IITs. IIT Madras offering the training to teachers.
