OU presents 2022-23 budget, seeks govt fulfil shortfall of ₹42.64 cr
HYDERABAD: Osmania University’s Vice-Chancellor Professor D. Ravinder on Monday presented the 2023-24 budget, with an expenditure of ₹752.79 crores and receipt of ₹685.79 crores, saying the government would be requested to sanction ₹42.64 crores to make up for the shortfall. The university did not announce any new programme in the Budget.
Prof. Ravinder told Deccan Chronicle: “I am happy to share that the Telangana government has sanctioned ₹457.1 crore for the 2023-24 fiscal, with an enhancement of ₹39.04 crore. The university is expecting to generate ₹253.05 crore from its internal resources. Thus, the total receipts would be ₹710.15 crore, with a shortfall of ₹42.64 crore against an estimated expenditure of ₹752.79 crore.”
He thanked Chief Minister Chandrashekar Rao and ministers P. Sabitha Indra Reddy, T. Harish Rao and K.T. Rama Rao for being keen on developing the university.
He said the government had enhanced block grants every financial year from ₹343.59 crores for 2020-21 to ₹353.89 crores for 2021-22; ₹418.06 crores for 2022-23 and ₹457.10 crore grant for the 2023-24 financial year. The cumulative increase in the block grant from 2020 was ₹114 crore, he said
