Transforming AP polytechnics into global institutions: Official

Vijayawada: State Board of Technical Education and Training (SBTET), AP, organised a meeting on “Transforming Polytechnic Academics – Towards a Globally Competitive Workforce” on Saturday. 317 principals of both government and private in Andhra Pradesh participated in the meeting.

On the occasion, principal secretary S. Suresh Kumar inaugurated the newly developed SBTET website. Authors and editors of textbooks and lab manuals for polytechnic colleges were honoured with a certificate and honorarium.

Speaking on the occasion, Suresh Kumar appreciated the efforts of Department of Technical Education in bringing out low-cost textbooks and lab-manuals, which would benefit the students of polytechnics in AP.

The official underlined that they are conducting academic audits to ensure that standards are being maintained while imparting technical education and training to polytechnic students. He asserted that the technical skills learnt by students will generate employment opportunities for them.

Technical Education director Chadalavada Nagarani asked all principals of polytechnic colleges and Department of Technical Education officers to abide by the NEP 2020 guidelines, so that polytechnic students of AP turn out to be the best workforce in global industry.

Nagarani said add-on courses are being designed as per the National Skills Qualification Framework, so that polytechnic students get an opportunity to undergo intensive training pertaining to their industry. She underlined that students can also appear for online training programmes available on the SWAYAM portal.
