Hyderabad’s Saanea Khan Secures AIR 17 in INICET

Hyderabad: Dr Saanea Khan, a final-year student of Osmania Medical College (OMC), secured an impressive All India Rank (AIR) of 17 in the Inicet May 2024 (Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test), an exam for admissions into MDS, DM, and M.Ch courses conducted by AIIMS for select institutes.

The examination results of which were declared on May 19 placed Dr Khan among the nation’s top achievers with a remarkable score of 99.9 per cent. Notably, she is the only candidate from the state to break into the top 100 on her first attempt.

Born into a family of medical professionals, Dr Khan's academic journey is a testament to her dedication and brilliance. Her father Dr Shabbir, an anesthetist, and her mother, Dr Zainab, a gynaecologist, have been influential figures in her life, she told Deccan Chronicle. Reflecting on her achievement, she said, "Balancing my internship and preparation was challenging, but my family's support kept me going. I aimed high, and I’m grateful that my hard work paid off."

Dr Khan's academic excellence was evident early on. She completed her schooling at Little Flower High School where she served as a school leader and was recognised as the best outgoing student. In her intermediate first year, she secured the state’s first rank followed by a stellar performance in NEET UG 2018 where she achieved a rank of 34 leading to her admission to OMC.

Throughout her MBBS, Dr Khan maintained a consistent record of distinction, earning gold medals in Anatomy and Pharmacology. Her commitment extended beyond academics; during the COVID-19 pandemic, she dedicated her time to serving patients at her family’s Majestic Hospital.

Despite the demanding schedule of her internship, which she completed in March, Dr Khan excelled in Inicet.
