Grammys 2016: Plunging necklines and sky high slits rule the red carpet

Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and Alessandra Ambrosio stun on the Grammy Awards red carpet with daring gowns.
Plunging necklines and waist high slits were of the moment at the 2016 Grammy Awards held last evening at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Ciara had one. - Justin Bieber had his little brother Jaxon in tow. The two clowned on the carpet, Bieber dressed in white coat and black trousers, shirt and bow tie.
- Johnny Depp and his Hollywood Vampire bandmates Alice Cooper and Joe Perry walked the Grammy red carpet together.
- Is red passe? Don't tell Ariana Grande, dressed in a bold shade from Romona Keveza.
- Janelle Monae picked a dramatic Jean Paul Gaultier ensemble.
- Demi Lovato took a cue from the men in black Norisol Ferrari gown that included a plunging blazer look up top and a long slit skirt down below with an edgy chain necklace underneath. For her Grammy performance later, she switched it up to a tight white blazer with nothing underneath, allowing for loads of skin to show off a $2.4 million diamond necklace from Mouawad.
- The Weeknd was joined by his model girlfriend Bella Hadid on the Grammy red carpet. The pair both wore black - with Bella in Alexandre Vauthier Paris.
- Sam Hunt rocked a shimmery pale rose suit with a white shirt.
- Sam Smith showed up on the Grammy red carpet in a slim fitting blue suit. The singer credited his new diet for the weight loss.
- Adele alked the carpet in an elegant long-sleeved black Givenchy gown which was adorned with sequins.
- Meghan Trainor wore an all black shimmery gown. The singer picked up her first Grammy award.
- Carrie Underwood also chose black - a long elegant strapless gown with a high side slit, her hair in a straight, back-swept bob.
- Victoria's Secret angel Alessandra Ambrosio showed her sultry side in a revealing Versace cut out gown.
- A pregnant Chrissy Teigen, meanwhile, showed off her growing bump in white with an embellished cape effect.
- Speaking of leg slits, Ciara's went all the way up one of hers in a gown that contrasted a print and solid color, side by side.
- Ellie Goulding showed up in a soft pink with a chain effect at the back, in contrast to some of the bold color statements of the evening.
- Gaga's red carpet ode to Ziggy Stardust included a fiery red mullet, sky high platform sandals and '70s swirls of embroidery on an electric blue tuxedo gown open to the crotch. Gaga's look, ahead of her tribute in song to the legendary Bowie and more fashion in his honor, was created by Marc Jacobs and included glittery bright blue eye shadow.

- Swift's shorter, chic bob with bangs worn down rather to one side earned raves, as did her outfit at the 2016 Grammy Awards.
- Taylor was joined by her friend Selena Gomez in full-on glittery sapphire blue with tiny straps and side cutouts.
- Taylor Swift's slit came in the middle, in the form of a peekaboo reveal of panties under a long, matching magenta skirt she wore with a coral red crop top - all courtesy of custom Atelier Versace.
