Aditi Shankar is a down-to-earth person, says director Vijay Kanakamedala
Young Telugu director Vijay Kanakamedala of “Ugram fame, approached Tamil actress Aditi Shankar, daughter of top Tamil director S Shankar who made big films like ‘Indian’ and ‘Robot’, to play the female lead in his upcoming film 'Bhairavam.' “I was impressed with her performance and dances in her Tamil films like ‘Viruman’ and ‘Maveeran’. So, we approached her for our film,” says director Vijay and adds, “She agreed to do the village belle role which has scope for performance and she is paired opposite Bellamkonda Srinivas," he adds. He was a bit nervous when he arranged a photo shoot for the actress in Hyderabad. “I was a bit nervous when I got to know Aditi is going to come along with her mother and wife of Shankar sir, but they put me at ease with their warmth and affection," he informs.
She carried the same attitude even into the shooting and it went on smoothly without any hassle. "Despite being the daughter of a top-notch director, she was quite attentive and discussed scenes with me and went about her work with ease. She even respects other crew members as well," he informs. He claims that Aditi will have a longer career in Telugu for her acting talent and professional attitude. "She is quick to grab things and has a bright future in Telugu,” he adds.
Vijay has made hard-hitting movies like ‘Naandhi’ and ‘Ugram’ inspired by director Shankar. “He is a master in making films on ‘social cause’ and blending it with commercial elements. His films like ‘Gentleman’ and ‘Indian’ vouch for his commitment to addressing burning issues and putting the spotlight back on corruption and reservations in educational courses. However, my favorite film remains ‘Oke Okkadu’ which talks about an honest journalist becoming Chief Minister for one day and exposes the corrupt and lethargic government machinery and it would remain a path-breaking movie in Indian cinema," he concludes.
