Amaran makers blur phone number after controversy, address legal notice
The makers of Amaran have addressed the recent controversy that emerged after the release of the film. Last month, an engineering student from Chennai, V.V. Vaageesan, sent a legal notice to the producers of Amaran after receiving incessant calls from actor Sai Pallavi’s fans. The issue arose from a scene in the Sivakarthikeyan-Sai Pallavi-starrer where a phone number, which in reality belonged to him, was shown on-screen. In response to the controversy, the makers of Amaran have blurred the phone number in the scene.
The Controversial Scene
The scene in question occurs during the song "Hey Minnale," where Sai Pallavi's character, Indu, throws a chit at Mukund (played by Sivakarthikeyan), with her phone number written on it. After the release of the film on October 31, Vaageesan, who was celebrating Diwali with his family, started receiving numerous calls asking to speak with Sai Pallavi. Initially unaware of the cause, he soon realized that his personal phone number had been shown in the film.
Quick Action Taken
In response, the filmmakers took swift action, blurring the number in both the Netflix streaming version and the YouTube music video. Vaageesan had demanded ₹1.1 crore in compensation for the distress caused, citing that his number was linked to sensitive documents like his Aadhar card and bank statements, making it difficult to change. He had asked for the number to be removed immediately.
