Hyderabad: Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel who was seen with Telugu superstars like Pawan Kalyan(Badri), Mahesh Babu(Nani), and Balakrishna(Param Veer Chakra), rules out doing character roles. “I would never play a role of mother-in-law or aunt in any film,’ she said in an interview and added, “I would like to don female lead roles as long as possible,’
The 49-year-old actress recently tasted success with the Hindi film ‘Gadaar 2’ opposite Sunny Deol and revived her sagging fortunes. The actress who also shared screen space with Jr NTR in ‘Narasimhudu' prefers to be in the spotlight by doing ‘heroine’ roles since she knows that character roles have their own limitation. “Ageing actresses have to accept the reality and move on,’ says producer L Sridhar, who says, "With the advent of young heroes, senior divas have to take a back seat and wait for roles with 60 plus heroes, otherwise it would be difficult to bag more offers.”
In fact, 30-plus Tollywood divas like Tammannah and Shruti Hassan played mother roles in films like ‘Baak’ and ‘Krack,’ respectively to keep their careers going. “Few actresses have retained her gorgeous looks and looking fit and mixing up with their roles since playing the role of a mother is also a challenge for pretty actresses,” he concludes.
