The blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD took the box office by storm in 2024. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the sci-fi epic featured Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Deepika Padukone in pivotal roles. With the film’s massive success, producer Ashwini Dutt has now shared exciting details about the highly anticipated sequel.
According to Dutt, Kalki 2 will primarily focus on three key characters—Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Amitabh Bachchan. While the first installment introduced a vast array of characters and an expansive storyline, Amitabh Bachchan's role was particularly significant, whereas Kamal Haasan had limited screen time—something that left many fans wanting more.
Acknowledging this, Kamal Haasan himself had hinted during promotions that his role would be much more substantial in the sequel. Dutt confirmed this, stating, "Kamal Haasan will have maximum screen time in the film. The interactions between Prabhas and Kamal will be fascinating, and Amitabh Bachchan will also play a crucial role. Deepika Padukone’s character remains significant as well. I don’t believe new faces will be introduced in the sequel."
With Kalki 2898 AD amassing over ₹800 crore globally, expectations for the sequel are sky-high. Production is set to commence soon, with Kalki 2 slated for a 2026 release.
