No matter what Yash Raj studios offer, I will always do it: Farida Jalal
Y Film's series titled 'Love Shots', are giving love shots in the form of adorable love stories. Their fourth film ‘Scandal Point’ features veteran actors Farida Jalal and Kulbhushan Kharbanda, who play a loving couple reminiscing about their college days in an ambassador. The way the story takes shape after that, will make you want for more and leave you smiling.
The characters in the story have been inspired by Producer Ashish Patil’s parents, which in turn helped him write the dialogues for the series along with Aparna Nadig. The film also features a trippy dance number 'Babu Moshai don't be shy, let's roll a fat one and get high'.
While talking about how the casting came together producer Ashish Patil said, "It was brainstorming and my casting director Shanoo's idea. We were thinking on the lines of who would be cutest to watch or who would be great fun to watch, who's naughty and then Faridaji's name came very instantly to mind with 'DDLJ' and YRF we thought that connection would be great, if Amrish Puri were alive today, it would be a great cast. The couple should look the age that we are portraying, I think with prosthetics and make up you don't buy into the story and the beauty of what we have been able to do to some extent with 'Love Shots' is that they work to some extent where ever they have worked because they are real. Be it kids in 'Textbook' so it looks real and feel real and this couple needed to feel real. I have always loved Faridaji and Kulbhushan ji is epic. As luck would have it, we approached and they agreed."
While talking about being a part of the series Farida Jalal said, “Well I was very excited when I was offered Love Shots. It’s nice and so ‘Gen Next’ as you all call it and modern. Also first and foremost it was Yash Raj. No matter what they offer I will always do it and it was lovely to work with youngsters so I happily jumped into it.”
“Earlier I was telling our director Anku (Ankur Tewari), that it’s just 4-5minutes what will you show in that. I am used to feature films that have plot and then climax. I still feel what the culmination was, like we were in the ambassador, but what after that? I saw the ‘Road Trip’, which stars Tahir and Nimrat and liked it, and also ‘Textbook’ like the story goes somewhere and then ends. But what did we say, we are a happy couple but what more?” she added.
The veteran actress is not seen much on screen now and she shares why, “If you see the films these days you will realise that there are no roles being written for me. Mothers and grand mothers haven’t stopped existing in films but I really don’t know what has happened. The moment I get a role that is written for me I will do it.”
While talking about Kulbhushan she said, “It was lovely to work with Kulbhushan, we had worked together in ‘Loafer’ and we played parents to Anil Kapoor. The only thing I can recall is that he used to get very upset if my pack up would happen before him. He loved drinking so he would say, ‘why did her pack up happen before mine? She doesn’t even drink… haha!’ He is such a nice soft-spoken gentlemen and its fun to work with him.”
Talking about another co-star Rajesh Khanna she said, “We weren’t friendly when we were shooting the film, ‘Aaradhana’ was a tremendous hit and later when we were going from city to another collecting awards we became friends.”
Amongst the young actors she is fond of Ranbir Kapoor, “Ranbir is Chintu’s son and he is like my own. I feel really proud and happy of his success. Then look at Ranveer Singh, he is like wow! The three Khan’s are my sons and I burst with pride while talking about them.”
Her son is producing a film now and she says, “He is producing a film and is also planning something for television, but we will talk when things get finalised.”
