Kangana Remuneration For Chandramukhi 2 Highest For Any Actress in South?
Bollywood diva Kangana Ranaut becomes the highest-paid B-town diva in the south as she reportedly pocketed Rs 5 crores for her recent release ‘’Chandramukhi2’ and coolly surpassed her Hindi colleague Jhanvi Kapoor who was paid Rs 4 crore for her maiden Telugu film ‘Devara’. “Kangana has set a new record in actresses’ remuneration in the south,” says a source and adds, “She pocketed Rs 5 crore since she knew that the horror flick would be released in other languages like Telugu and Hindi cashing in on her brand and didn’t mind charging a bomb,” he adds.
Interestingly, Kangana was reportedly paid Rs 25 lakhs when she made her debut in Telugu with ‘Ek Niranjan’ opposite Prabhas in 2009. “Those times were different. She became a big star in Bollywood after hits like ‘Tanu Weds Manu’, ‘Queen’, ‘Fashion’ and ‘Krissh3’ to be hailed as a queen bee in Bollywood as she could pull off films on the strength of her name,” he adds.
No doubt, Kangana’s name triggered a lot of interest in the sequel of ‘Chandramukhi’ in varied languages and her presence in the film was also justified in the absence of superstar Rajinikanth. However, veteran director P Vasu couldn’t come up with an interesting screenplay and just rehashed the old version and his effort fell flat on its face.
