Sushant Singh Rajput, Jacqueline Fernandez starrer 'Drive' to release in 2019!
Karan Johar may be rather prolific in churning out film after film at the turnstiles, but even the filmmaker’s smooth way of functioning has hit a roadblock with one film — Drive — starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez.
The Sushant and Jacqueline starrer is an official remake of the Hollywood film Drive, starring actors Ryan Gosling and Cary Mulligan. The film Drive was about a mysterious Hollywood stuntman and mechanic moonlights as a getaway driver and finds himself in trouble when he helps out his neighbour.
Tarun Mansukhani has directed the remake, but the producer Karan has not found enough drive to accelerate on the film’s release plans. “The film was to initially release in 2017. But Karan was not happy and wanted certain portions re-shot because it became a rather dark film. Then the plan was to release it in the middle of this year and after shuffling the release dates twice, the film was moved again,” says a trade source.
Actress Jacqueline Fernandez, however, clarifies on the progress of the film stating that there is some more shooting going on at the moment on Drive, a year and a half after the original plan of release. “So far, we are shooting the patchwork on the film. We are making sure that the film releases early next year,” she confirms.
In the meantime, Jacqueline has also given an update on the remake of the Kannada film Kirik Party. “I am very excited to be able to work with Kartik Aaryan. We have a fantastic director on board. We are in the scripting process. I saw the Kannada version and it was unbelievable. I enjoyed it thoroughly. When I saw it, I was very excited and said that this was definitely a film I wanted to do,” says Jacqueline.
