Ronnie Screwvala, who in the past has produced path-breaking movies that even went to the Oscars under UTV, is planning to make a comeback. The maverick producer, who sold his company to Disney for a whopping price, had been planning his return to films for over a year now, but wanted to ensure that the scripts he picks up represent the kind of movies he wants to produce.
In the last few years, Ronnie has successfully managed his not-for-profit organisation, Swades Foundation and has also written Dream With Your Eyes Open, which turned to be another feather in his cap. The book turned into a bestseller and inspired many to enhance their entrepreneurial skills.
Ronnie recently started a film production company RSVP (Ronnie Screwvala Productions) and will start producing movies soon. A source revealed, “There are many scripts he has liked but he wants to pick up interesting ones. He doesn’t want to go all out and will take slow steps. He is a big name in the industry but his return will be with movies with newcomers and new directors.”
One of the films by RSVP will most likely go on floors this year. According to sources. the reports that Ronnie, Sidharth Roy Kapur, Anil Thadani and Karan Johar are coming together in the company are completely false. In fact, Ronnie himself recently clarified that Sid is not joining his company.
