The actress has been filming her sequences in the Mani Ratnam film, in which she plays both mother and daughter. This would be Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s second double role of her career and with the director. She first played a double role in the 1997-Tamil film, Iruvar — first, she played the wife to Mohanlal’s character, who dies in an accident, and then again as an actress who becomes Mohanlal’s muse.
The upcoming Mani-Ratnam directorial Ponniyin Selvan, will be Aish’s second film in which she has a double role. She’d play the role of both the mother and daughter in the film.
Reminding us that the actress has never played a double role in any other film with any other director, a trade source points out about the trust she has in Mani to do justice to both her characters in the film. The source adds, “She was shooting at Puducherry and will now come to Hyderabad for the last schedule of the movie.”
