There is a rather amusing Bollywood tale doing the rounds about how Warina Hussain was chosen for the item song in Dabangg 3, paired with the newest item boy in town — Salman Khan. As the tale goes, Salman was sitting around with director Prabhu Deva, his brothers and his other associates, discussing Dabangg 3 and the item number in the film. It was decided that Salman would be the ‘item boy’ in the song. But item numbers in Bollywood, with their song-and-dance routine, usually rest on the slender shoulders of a female artist. So, Salman drawled, “Kareena-Warina ko le aao”. Taking Bhai’s words literally, the crew headed off first to offer the number to Kareena, who politely declined. Then, the team dutifully trudged along to Warina Hussain, the newcomer who’d made her debut alongside Salman Khan's brother-in-law Ayush Sharma in the 2018-film LoveYatri. In Dabangg 3, 20-year-old Warina does make an odd pair with Salman. But then so does 21-year-old Saiee Manjrekar, who’s actually Salman’s friend's daughter. Ermm…
So, given how Salman’s heroines are getting increasingly younger in every one of his films, it is no wonder Warina was roped in for this item song.
