You’ve seen her as Kalki’s girlfriend in Margarita With A Straw, she’s a popular face on TV ads and she’ll be seen seen in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Fan, in an important role. As far as movies go, Sayani Gupta is on a roll.
“It’s been a hectic few months. No sooner did I wrap up the shoot for Fan, I started work on Jagga Jasoos, and then Baar Baar Dekho with Siddharth Malhotra happened. But I’m not complaining! I’m more than happy that I’m getting to work with such talented stars,” says Sayani.
After making heads turn with Margarita... two years back, Sayani has been receiving many offers, plenty of which she had to reject. “I also received two offers from the Telugu film industry. I wasn’t sure about the script. Apart from that, I just wrote a rejection email for at least 15 offers that I received,” she says.
Talking about her role in Fan she says, “I play an important role, but I can’t reveal much because that would mean giving away the plot.”
But she loved working with Shah Rukh Khan. “SRK is an amazing actor to work with. He makes sure that his entire cast and crew are comfortable and everyone just wants to work more with him. Ranbir, on the other hand, is a lot of fun to work with. I remember, when I would juggle between shoots of Fan and Jagga..., he would always ask me, ‘How is it working with SRK? He’s a very chilled out guy, right?’” she says.
In Baar Baar Dekho, Sayani will be acting with Katrina Kaif for the second time, and she says, “Katrina is a tomboy and is very relaxed on sets. She has absolutely no tantrums. While Siddharth Malhotra is treated like a kid. I, in fact, am the new comer, but I go around giving them gyaan,” she says. She adds, “I want to get back to my first love, theatre; but that will require a lot of time.”
