Dinesh Vijan is the reason I did Hindi Medium, says Irrfan Khan
Mumbai: After producing highly credible films like ‘Being Cyrus’, ‘Love Aaj Kal’, and ‘Cocktail’ to name a few, producer Dinesh Vijan went solo in 2014 launching Maddock Films. Marking its entry into the industry with two very bold and quirky outings, ‘Finding Fanny’ and ‘Badlapur’, Vijan was applauded for his unusual and fearless choices.
This year, Maddock Films is back with projects that once again are creating high curiosity owing to their unique content. The first, ‘Hindi Medium’, releases on May 12th, features Irrfan khan and is about the bizarre bureaucracy one experiences to get their child the best available education in an English medium school in India.
Post this release, cinema goers will be treated to Vijan's directorial debut ‘Raabta’ on June 9th, starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon. Departing far from their first release, ‘Raabta’ is a modern-day story of two seemingly ordinary people who have the most extraordinary experience when they realize that they are connected through a past experience of unrequited love, passion and treachery.
Dinesh Vijan, founder of the film production house says, “At Maddock Films we intend to embrace all types of stories and story tellers. The whole idea is to celebrate the diversity of film and eventually offer the audience a vast cinematic assortment.”
But isn’t it all about the big bucks? About safety in stars, in tried and tested masala films?
Vijan replied, “(laughs)…you need to be smart but money should never be the core motive to make a film. There’s magic in movies and there is nothing more rewarding than sharing this magic... that’s the mantra we all follow at Maddock Films.”
Irrfan Khan talking about Hindi Medium says, Dinesh Vijan (Dinoo) is the reason I decided to do ‘Hindi Medium’. The way he positions his films is absolutely amazing.”
Produced by Dinesh Vijan and Bhushan Kumar, ‘Hindi Medium’ is a slice of life comedy based in the heartland of our country. The film is all set to release on 12th May 2017.
