Nana Patekar addresses Tanushree Dutta's allegation, says his truth remains the same
Mumbai: Nana Patekar addressed Tanushree Dutta's sexual harassment claims on Monday afternoon to the media. “What was the truth 10 years ago remains the same today and will continue to be tomorrow as well,” the veteran actor said as he refused to take questions on the controversy.
He said his lawyer had asked him not to speak to the media. “My lawyer has advised me not to speak on the matter. Hence, I am silent. Otherwise, I would have no issues talking to the press,” Nana said.
Tanushree Dutta has alleged that Patekar misbehaved with her on the sets of the film 'Horn Ok Pleasss'. She has accused him of harassing her while shooting for a special dance number in the movie and also claimed that dance choreographer Ganesh Acharya teamed up against her.
The 'Aashiq Banaya Aapne' actor further said that she and her family were attacked after she declined to perform some intimate steps. She recently stated that she has been 'slapped' with two legal notices by Patekar and director Vivek Agnihotri.
The 34-year-old has also revealed that she has been getting violent threats from the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and that two unidentified individuals recently tried to barge inside her residence. A complaint has also been loged against Dutta for allegedly defaming MNS chief Raj Thackeray.
The allegations have cooked up a storm in B-Town, with celebrities having diverging opinions on the case. While many like Priyanka Chopra, Parineeti Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Swara Bhaskar, Shilpa Shetty, Kalki Koechlin, and Sonam Kapoor Ahuja voiced their support for Dutta, others like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan chose to dodge the issue. Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Maneka Gandhi, has also stood by Tanushree.
