Manisha, who played Sanjay Dutt’s mother Nargis in \'Sanju\' is all set to play his wife in ‘Prassthanam’.

Mumbai: Manisha Koirala is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film ‘Prassthanam’ which also features Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff. Manisha, who played Sanjay Dutt’s mother Nargis in 'Sanju' is all set to play his wife in ‘Prassthanam’. Speaking about the same, the ace actor tells, "My character name is Sukmini Pratap Singh, she is the central figure in the family set-up. Despite a lot of turmoil that is going on in the family, she is courageous and stands tall above everything. It is a political drama and there's a lot of chaos that is happening...through all that she has to endure and keep calm in order to do the right thing."

With ‘Prassthanam’, Manisha will be reuniting with both Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff after 20 years. The trio has earlier worked together in Mahesh Bhatt's 'Kartoos' (1999). Sharing her experience, Manisha says, "It's always a pleasure to work with Baba and Jaggu dada. Over the years we have evolved, but a certain essence of us remains the same. My first day of shooting for Prassthanam was with both of them and it was really wonderful to see them on the same set. The whole stress goes away when you are working with somebody you are very fond of and have a friendship of 30 years."

Manisha whose known Dutt since more than two decades revealed the bond she shared with the actor. Manisha said, “I became a big fan of Baba after watching Rocky and even had his posters up in my room. It was a fan-girl moment when I first worked with him, but over the years we have become good have seen him go through his ups and downs in life, and whenever I have a problem, I just have to tell him. A few days later, he will call to ask, ‘Manya, sab theek ho gaya na?’ We are very comfortable with each other now.”

Manisha will also be seen sharing screen space with current crop of actors like Ali Fazal, Amyra Dastur and Satyajeet Dubey in ‘Prassthanam’, so as senior actor did she give any advice to them? Manisha says, "I think everybody in today's generation are very glued on to what they want and what they want to achieve. I don't think they need any of our advices (laughs). But I must they all are amazing performers, very professional and I had a very good time working with them."

Manisha has always been on every filmmaker's wish-list and she still continues delivering some really amazing work. Does she feel difference between acting then and acting now? Manisha candidly says, "I think there's a lot of pressure today. There's so much emphasis on outer look these days. Even if it is a gym or the airport - everybody has to look their best. There's a lot of pressure to look perfect all the time. There's social media, there's paparazzi and what not. In our days there was work only on sets but the current generation has to be alert all the time. I wish they could enjoy life as well."

"Today the films are more realistic and hence the acting is a lot more realistic and subtle. In our time, melodramatic acting was a thing but it isn't valid anymore," she adds.

Directed by Deva Katta, Sanjay S Dutt’s presents, produced by Maanayata Dutt, Prassthanam stars Sanjay S. Dutt, Manisha Koirala, Jackie Shroff, Chunky Panday, Ali Fazal, Amyra Dastur & Satyajeet Dubey. The film releases on 20th September 2019.
