Madhuri Dixit to star in web series where she goes \'missing\'

The show is to be produced by Karan Johar and directed by Sri Rao

When Madhur Bhandarkar made Heroine, he and the Aishwarya Rai starrer made a splash by announcing the film at the Cannes Film Festival. Aishwarya dropped the film following her pregnancy and was replaced by Kareena Kapoor. The film was set in the premise of the film industry.

And now, it is a web-series called The Heroine—produced by Karan Johar. Yes, it is the same project that Madhuri Dixit-Nene has collaborated with Karan to be made under Dharmatic Entertainment, and will start filming a couple of weeks later.

“The shooting of web series will commence by the end of the month and will be shot in Mumbai with the background of Bollywood,” say sources.

Not long ago, Madhuri had joined forces with Karan Johar when he had produced the film Kalank, and the actress was very impressed with Karan’s passion for the entire process.

The veteran actress had earlier tied up with Priyanka Chopra Jonas purportedly to make a pilot series based on her experiences and life in the US for ABC.

The show was piloted by Sri Rao, a noted writer and director in the US, who has not just written the project, but will be directing it as well.

Interestingly, Rao was also the man who had penned the Sidharth Malhotra—Katrina Kaif starrer Baar Baar Dekho for Dharma Productions.

“It is a series on the life and times of a superstar who has a family of her own and the world for her family turns topsy-turvy when she goes missing. The series then dissects the life of the actress and takes the grease paint off the life of one of the most popular actresses in the movie business,” says a source.

Madhuri had earlier produced a film called 15 August and is working on her next film called Panchak, both of which are Marathi films.
