Shahid Kapoor trains under Rohit Sharma’s coach
We have learnt that Shahid Kapoor, who will be seen in the role of a cricketer in the sports drama Jersey, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, trained under Dinesh Lad, coach and mentor of Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma.
The producers of the film decided to get a reputed coach to train Shahid and Gowtam Tinnanuri endorsed the idea. The Kabir Singh star reportedly trained under State-level Ranji Trophy coaches too, to ensure authenticity in his performance.
In fact, an eight-member team (including certified athletic trainers and fitness experts from UK) has been hired to help Shahid, who has actually played cricket at the college and club levels.
“Shahid, who is known to immerse himself in serious preparation for his roles, was thrilled with the opportunity to learn under Dinesh. The actor worked on batting techniques with Dinesh Lad for a few sessions during the initial schedules of the shooting in November. He picked up the footwork and different styles of stroke play from the renowned coach,” says a source.
Half the shooting has been completed, but Shahid continues to train under Ranji coaches. “Since the film is now being shot in Chandigarh, the actor is training under Haryana state coaches,” adds the source. He hits the nets whenever opportunity arises, and during shooting breaks.
