Karan Johar’s biggest challenge

This begs the question of whether Takht will be more costly than Johar’s underproduction sci-fi/mythological Brahmastra?

Here’s something not many knows about Karan Johar’s ambitious Takht — it’s his most expensive, lavish, and epic film to date. The film, with its estimated budget of Rs 250 crore leaves Karan’s earlier opuses like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, and Agneepath far behind. Apparently, the star-studded historical will cut no corners.

Says a source in the know, “Every star — Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pednekar and Vicky Kaushal — is being paid his or her market price. They’d have happily taken a cut for Karan’s sake, but Karan insisted on paying them their market price.”

This begs the question of whether Takht will be more costly than Johar’s underproduction sci-fi/mythological Brahmastra?

This Ayan Mukerji-directed magnum opus, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Nagarjuna, has gone way over-budget. Sources say that Takht could be an even more expensive production.

“That’s why Karan was insistent that Ayan announce the release date of the long-delayed Brahmastra before shooting Takht. The release date for Brahmastra is now out (4 December 2020) and Karan starts shooting Takht in March 2020,” says the source.

Incidentally, the poster of Takht was leaked accidentally in an email sent out by Johar’s marketing team.
