Masaba called illegitimate' for backing firecracker ban, gives perfect response
Mumbai: Neena Gupta had made headlines few weeks ago when she posted an interesting tweet asking for work despite her vast amount of experience.
While the veteran actress bagged Rishi Kapoor ‘Mulk’ later on, it is now her daughter Masaba Mantena who is in the news for her tweet.
The fashion designer-entrepreneur, who is the love child of Neena and legendary West Indian cricketer Sir Vivian Richards, got trolled with words like ‘bas***d child’ and ‘illegitimate West Indian’, for backing the recent Supreme Court ruling banning firecrackers in New Delhi.
And her tweet in response to the trolls is what is winning the Internet.
Masaba states how using those words only make her ‘chest swell with pride’ and how she had been immune to them since childhood.
Calling herself an ‘illegitimate product of two of the most legitimate personalities’, she adds that her legitimacy comes from her work and her contribution to society.
Urging trolls to carry on their shaming if they felt glorious, she concludeds, “I am a proud Indo-Caribbean girl who doesn’t know how to shrink and crumble in shame of something you or your society cannot handle. It’s just in my ‘illegitimate’ genes.”
