Ayan Mukerji cashing in on Ranbir-Alia’s wedding?
The buzz around the big-fat Bollywood wedding is getting louder. Ayan Mukerji and Karan Johar on Wednesday added grist to the rumour mills with their Instagram posts, one with a “gift” to the couple as they embark on a “sacred journey” and the other cheering “new beginnings”.
The gift by Mukerji was a teaser of a romantic track from his upcoming movie Brahmastra, which stars the couple and is produced by Karan Johar. This film has been in the making for eight years.
Mukerji took to Instagram to share a video of the song Kesariya, which features the stars romancing in the lanes of Varanasi. “For Ranbir and for Alia! And... For this sacred journey they are going to embark on soon! Ranbir and Alia... my closest and dearest people in this world... My happy place, and my safe place... Who have added everything to my life... And given themselves completely and selflessly to our movie! We just had to share a piece of their union, from our movie, from our song Kesariya, to celebrate them... as a gift to them, and to everyone!! Wishing that the best of energies and all the blessings, all the joy and all the purity, surround them as they enter an amazing new chapter of life, together forever,” Mukerji wrote.
The video ends with a message from the team of Brahmastra wishing the couple “all the love and light”.
Filmmaker Johar shared the same teaser on his Instagram page. Interestingly, Ranbir Kapoor is also one of the producers of the film.
Does that mean Ranbir could be captilatising on his own wedding? We leave that to the readers to decide.
Secrecy, a way to create public curiosity:
One might wonder why the couple would maintain such secrecy regarding their wedding if they and the makers of their film Brahmastra wanted to cash-in on their wedding by using it as a means to promote their film?
Readers might remember that in a recent bollywood wedding, of Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal, the more the couple tried to hide their relationship and wedding rumours, the more curious people grew to know about it and once the curiosity started to die-down, the couple themselves started sharing a whole series of their own wedding pictures.
According to Kavita Panyam, counselling psychologist and founder–director of Mind Suggest Wellness Centre, Hyderabad, the secrecy maintained around the Ranbir-Alia wedding with revealing very little details and yet family members denying the wedding rumours, people will get curious to watch their upcoming movie. “Naturally if you half announce something or try to hide it, it triggers people’s curiosity and they’d want to known more about it. The Kapoor family has been completely denying the wedding which might make people more curious to see the couple’s on-screen chemistry all the way more.”
Ayan wanted Ranbir-Alia romance to be a secret
During the poster launch of Brahmastra in Hyderabad, while standing next to Ranbir and Alia, Ayan shared how he did not want anyone to see Ranbir and Alia together until their movie was out. “When we started shooting, I was like this is the best casting — Ranbir and Alia. Power-house. It was just too good. Then Ranbir and Alia became very very very good friends in life, more than friends. So then I didn’t want the whole world to see them (together) for these four years. I didn’t want anybody to see them till my film had not come out. So lots of things have not happened in their life because everytime they would go out together, I would be sitting in the backseat saying, ‘Areyy you all are ruining my film... Please don’t go anywhere.”
