Amruta Khanvilkar reveals Satyameva Jayate character not same as Raazi
John Abraham starrer ‘Satyameva Jayate’ is all set to release with Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Gold’ tomorrow i.e. on Indian Independence Day.
The movie will also star ‘Raazi’ actress Amruta Khanvilkar, who is a popular name in the Marathi cinema. As she has now made her foray into Bollywood, she clears the air around certain things.
Here are the excerpts:
From Marathi cinema to Bollywood, what took you so long?
Long for what? For me, both the industries are equal. There is no coming or going for me anywhere, it’s just doing good work. Doesn’t matter what medium, what industry and what language I work in. In fact I'm lucky to be working in both the industries.
You did Phoonk with Ram Gopal Varma. What do you think of the director now?
Who am I to think or judge anyone? When I did Phoonk it put me my performance in the limelight and I will always be thankful to the director for selecting me for the role.
You played a similar role in Raazi as in Satyameva Jayate. What really attracted you in playing Manoj’s wife?
I don’t think that Munira from Raazi and Sarita from Satyameva Jayate are anywhere near to each other as characters. They are completely different, set in different eras.
Munira was demure Pakistani Muslim. Sarita is a today’s woman having a voice of her own married to an honest cop.
Do you wish to establish foot in Bollywood or are happy with Marathi cinema?
I’m happy doing both. There has always been great work happening in the two industries. I do not want to leave any one because of the other.
Any more Bollywood movies coming your way?
I’ll talk about them when the time is right.
