Picture toh abhi baki hai
Snow-capped mountains, breathtaking locations and mind-blowing action sequences - the Shivaay trailer has left us asking for more. Film buffs who’ve seen it have been stimulated by an instant adrenaline rush and are excited about the Ajay Devgn-starrer.
On the other hand is another trailer that has managed to wow audiences and become the most liked trailer in the history of Indian cinema. Yes, we’re talking about Neeraj Pandey’s MS Dhoni — The Untold Story.
The film’s trailer has managed to garner a whopping 13 million views and has approximately 3 lakh likes. It showcases Captain Cool’s entire journey — from being a ticket collector in Kharagpur to his love story with his childhood sweetheart Sakshi.
Shoojit Sircar’s Pink is another riveting film whose trailer has managed to electrify film aficionados. Down South, Sudeep’s Kotigobba 2 and Pawan Kumar’s U Turn have garnered around four lakh and six lakh views respectively.
Of late, there have been cases where viewers have found the trailer much better than the actual movie.
Rustom, for instance garnered a huge number of views (14 million) on YouTube but opened to mixed reviews. Among the foreign movies, Jason Bourne’s trailer gathered a large number of views, while the movie didn’t live up to the expectations of many fans of the series.
“Compared to the previous films, this one was very average. People who’ve seen Jason Bourne have mixed opinions about it. Nowadays, we’re seeing a lot of movies where the entire story is revealed in the trailer or where the trailer/teaser is far better than the actual film. I’m just hoping that the Dhoni movie lives upto its expectations,” says film buff Anusha B.
Actress Samyukta Hornad who has liked the trailer of Pink and the teaser of Prakah Raj’s Iddole Ramayana, says, “There’s so much hype and build up before the release of every teaser and trailer, so there’s a lot of expectation from the film, so we end up getting disappointed. Also on social media everybody has an opinion about the movie or the trailer. I’d rather see the trailer and go and watch the film based on my own interest rather than relying on a film critic.”
