SRK's tourism inspired ad is a great source of motivation for avid travellers
What motivates us to travel? Is it the prospect of seeing a new places or meeting new people or sampling the local delights? Or is the fact that your favourite celebrity is the tourism ambassador for that place? From veterans like Amitabh Bachchan promoting Gujarat to actors like Aamir Khan who was the face of Incredible India. In a recent ad we saw the King Khan of Bollywood promote the people, food, the city and the culture of Dubai. In the same way, Bollywood star Ranveer Singh are the brand tourism ambassador for the snow clad mountains of Switzerland. Actress Parineeti Chopra too promotes tourism is Australia. These celebrities are well known people in the film industry both in India and abroad. And they becoming the tourism ambassadors for these countries gives us major travel goals.
Actress Sukrutha Wagle feels that Indian tourism should be promoted first. She says, “Although its a matter of pride that our celebs promote tourism in other countries, it would be better if they do the same in our country as well like Amitabh Bachchan And Aamir Khan. Each person follows a celebrity. The exotic vacation destinations of celebrities invokes a sense of curiosity. Their travels influence our travels.
Tourism ads serve the purpose of motivating people to visit various destinations. Gauthami Potturu who manages a tour booking place in the city says, “Travellers do get influenced as their favourite celebs are promoting these places. But then I feel that its only in the recent times, people are keen on travelling maybe because of the increased connectivity through social media. Through these celebs, they are well aware of the destinations and they can easily get the information they need. We have seen a growth every year. I have seen its mostly the people who have retired and the young people who opt for budget travel. The tours to places in Europe, Australia etc too have increased.”
Veera Braham who is frequent traveller feels that along with the touristy places, the real destination should be covered. He says, “Shah Rukh Khan’s tourism inspired ad is a great source of motivation for avid travellers. I feel that they gives an insight on what we can expect from these places. But in addition to this, as traveller that loves to explore the unknown, it would be nice if they promote local places, food, culture and people. This is show travellers the simpler life lead in these destinations.”
Ashwin Palkar, a senior creative head of an ad agency feels that the real vibe of places needs to be explored. He adds, “Although its amazing that our celebrities are promoting tourism in the vacation destinations. But I feel that instead of just showing the must see’s, the actual local culture of the places needs to be brought forward. It’s only by doing this that the actual essence of a particular place is brought out.”
