Saqib Saleem wants to play Virat on screen
Saqib Saleem has been making the right noises in Bollywood. Last seen in Amol Gupte’s Hawaa Hawaai, Saqib is quite elated with the recent success of his film Dishoom, where he plays the role of a cricketer.
The actor, who played Viraj Sharma in the movie, says he is glad Dishoom became a commercial hit.
“I was waiting for a film like Dishoom in my career. I did the movie for fun and I have received an overwhelming response. It’s a great feeling and I’m glad to be associated with Rohit (Dhawan) and Sajid bhai (Nadiadwala.)”
He chuckles as he recounts instances where people have started calling him Virat Kohli now.
“It feels good to be called Virat. I have always played cricket and I’m an athlete. I was also told that if ever a biopic will be made on Virat Kohli, I should play him in the film.”
Saqib has even starred alongside sister Huma Qureshi in the film Dobara. How did it feel to work with his sister, we ask.
“It’s special to me because I shared space with my sister,” he says. “It’s an interesting film and I shall be dubbing for it when I’m back from shooting in London.”
The actor has been paired with Taapsee Pannu for the second time after a music video in the upcoming movie Makhna and Saqib is glad their pairing works.
“Makhna is an epic love story and I’m in London shooting for it currently. Taapsee and I share a good bond and we were cast together since they liked our chemistry in the music video,” he signs off.
