Star kid Tiger Shroff was certainly disappointed with the failure of his film Student Of the Year 2, but he bounced back with his next, action-thriller film War. The film, starring Tiger and Hrithik Roshan, has kept the cash register ringing and Tiger is grateful.
“I think the minute I got to know that I am doing a two-hero film with Hrithik sir, I said there is no other bigger opportunity. This is more than a film for me, because Hrithik is somebody whom I look up to. It’s a genuine feeling, I did it with utmost honesty. I am so thankful for all the love(sic),” Tiger gushes.
Looking back at the catastrophe of SOTY 2, the actor says he wasn’t fazed. “It didn’t affect me because I had such a good time shooting that film and I made some great friends. My relationship with Karan (Johar) got better. I really enjoyed working with them. I have no hard feelings. You are remembered by your last film, but the majority of people remember me for the Baaghi franchisee,” he reveals.
Right from his debut film Heropanti, Tiger has been touted as the action hero to watch out for in the industry. However, he doesn’t fear being typecast. “I love being typecast because it gives me an identity. In today’s time, when there is so much commotion, how does one stand out and develop an
identity that gets you noticed?” the Baaghi actor asks.Tiger, who has earlier done a superhero film like The Flying Jatt, says Bollywood needs to up its game with superhero films. “We are exposed to Avengers, Spiderman, and Captain America, and we have seen the level of VFX they have. We are not putting in that money to get to that level. I love superhero movies, so it will be a dream come true to do something like that,” he shares.
It’s been five years since Tiger made his debut in the industry, and he has already carved a niche for himself. However, he chooses to not take his fame too seriously. “I don’t take it seriously at all, because I feel I am not supposed to. Right now I feel like I have so much more that I want to prove, so I am never satisfied with myself. So I don’t take it seriously at all. There is not a single day when I pat myself on my back and say I have done a good job. I am too hard on myself, I have very high expectations from myself. So to reach that level, I can’t afford to take it easy or praise myself,” he explains.
Furthermore, the actor also touched upon his love for the commercial space. “I love commercial cinema and whatever little I have achieved in life is because of commercial cinema. I have made my living out of being a stereotypical commercial action hero. For me, it’s a blessing and I won't leave this genre for a while,” Tiger smiles.
