MP: Bollywood sets eye on 2 serial killers, serving sentence in jail, for new movie

Bhopal: Two ‘serial killers’, serving life sentences in Bhopal Central Jail here, have caught the attention of Bollywood director Annu Kapoor for his upcoming movie.

Kapoor has recently met two senior police officers here to gather inputs on the two dreaded murderers, Adesh Khamra and Sarman Shivhare, lodged in the Bhopal Central Jail here, after being convicted the various cases of robbery and murders, for his script, a jail officer told this newspaper on Tuesday, unwilling to be quoted.

“The film director has also visited the jail recently in connection with his film project”, he said.

Kapoor is likely to visit the jail and some jail officials in this connection after December three, when the results of the November 17 assembly elections are scheduled to be declared, sources said.

If the film project materialises, then it would be the first time Bollywood would tell the story of the inmates of Bhopal Central Jail.

A senior police officer said Mr Kapoor has already started working on his script for his upcoming movie based on the story of the two ‘serial killers’.

One of the two ‘serial killers’, Adesh Khamra, who was a tailor by profession, was arrested in a daring raid on his hideout by a woman police officer Bittu Sharma in September, 2018.

According to police, he had confessed to killing 34 truck drivers and cleaners in a span of ten years during interrogation after his arrest.

His principal motive behind every crime was robbery, but he killed his victims to destroy all evidence, police said.

He used to justify the murders saying that he liberated his victims of the misery of staying away from their families.

He used to work as a tailor in Mandideep on the outskirts of Bhopal during the day and commit the crimes in the night, according to the police.

The other ‘serial killer’ Sarman Shivhare hailed from Panna in Madhya Pradesh and entered the crime world to become rich.

As many as 40 cases of robbery and murders were registered against him in various police stations in the state.

According to the police, he had confessed to killing 21 people during interrogation after his arrest around five years back.
