Director Leena Yadav has decided to release her film Rajma Chawal, featuring Rishi Kapoor, on the Netflix.
Leena says, “It was not what I had in mind at all. We were just making a film and we thought let’s release it traditionally. After we shot for the film, Netflix wanted to take a look and so they got in touch with me. They saw it, loved it and proposed that we release it as a Netflix original.”
Leena’s film is set in the chaotic, vibrant Chandni Chowk area in Delhi, and captures the attempts of a father trying to reconnect with his estranged son through social media that turns out to be a whole new world for him. The director, who seems to be happy with Rishi’s professionalism, can’t stop gushing about him.
She says, “He is one of the most unfiltered people I have met. Especially in this industry, where it’s so difficult to say what you feel. He says what he feels and I find such people so refreshing.”
