Anushka-Virat's viral ad taking fans and industry by storm
A gorgeous Anushka Sharma is all decked up in Indian attire and seated right next to her is her beau Virat Kohli and then, the duo gets talking about the meaning of saatpheres at a wedding. Nope, this isn’t a scene from their shaadi, but it’s from an ad for a clothing brand, which has gone viral and managed to garner enthusiastic reactions from “Virushka” fans. In another advert for a jewellery brand, Twinkle Khanna aka Mrs Funny Bones is seen having the most adorable chemistry with her husband actor Akshay Kumar. Then there’s also Shah Rukh Khan-Gauri, Sneha-Prasanna and Jyothika-Suriya who’ve endorsed brands together. With a lot of brands bringing star couples together, how are these ads being received by viewers?
Tollywood and Sandalwood actresss Rukshar Mir says, “Everyone wants to know what’s happening in a celebrity’s life, especially if they’re dating another celeb. People are inquisitive and even when these top stars make appearances on talk shows, their chemistry is visible and people want to see more of them. It’s a good change to see Gauri Khan and Twinkle Khanna on screen as they usually don’t make TV appearances and these ads manage to grab all the attention from viewers and create hype. The Akshay-Twinkle advert actually made me break into a smile.” The actor goes on to add that she’d like to see young couple Disha Patani and Tiger Shroff in an ad together.
Down South too, celeb couples have starred in ads. Actress Hitha Chandrasekhar shares, “I like the ad with South Indian actor Sneha and her husband Prasanna. I think as a viewer, I give more attention to an ad when celebrity couples are in it. It just makes the audience curious to know how their chemistry works.”
Talking about the power of ads that bring together star couples, Abhijna E Rao, senior account executive at Ogilvy and Mather states, “Everybody knows or is under the assumption that celebs do ads for money, so bringing together real life couples at least adds a touch of realism. For instance, SRK has acted in ads without Gauri where someone else has played his love interest, but nobody really buys that. So real couples bring in relatability, credibility and an awe factor as people know that at least that part is not staged.”
