Lights, Camera, Samosas!
In a world where dreams take flight in the most unexpected ways, Srishti’s journey from content creator to Bollywood actor is nothing short of remarkable. Her debut alongside Vicky Kaushal in The Great Indian Family marks a promising start to her career.
In this exclusive chat, we explore her experiences, the highs, and the humorous lows that launched her into Bollywood.
Excerpts:
Call amidst chaos
Srishti’s Bollywood debut began during the first lockdown. She recalls, “I got a call from YRF confirming the role and jumped with joy. Then, within half an hour, another call came – my parents had tested positive for Covid-19. I was ecstatic about the role but helpless about my parents’ situation.”
Bollywood dreams
Dreaming of being an actor since childhood, Srishti’s middle-class background initially deterred her. Content creation became her outlet, leading her unexpectedly to a YRF movie set. “I hadn’t sought an acting opportunity; it came to me,” she says.
Srishti’s inspiration? The magic of the silver screen. “I’ve always been captivated by screens, from TV to big cinemas. I just wanted to be up there, making people laugh, cry, and feel. Madhuri Dixit was my childhood idol, with her grace and beauty. Kareena Kapoor and Konkona Sen Sharma fueled my passion,” she says.
In The Great Indian Family, Srishti plays Gunja, Vicky Kaushal’s twin sister with a surprising secret. Preparing for the role involved rehearsals and learning from co-actors. Director Vijay Krishna Acharya, or ‘Victor sir,’ made Srishti feel like family. His passion for storytelling and attention to detail left a deep impact.
On Vicky Kaushal
Working alongside the talented Vicky Kaushal was undoubtedly one of the highlights of Srishti’s journey. She enthusiastically shares, “Ah, Vicky! What a guy! I was pretty nervous when I first met him, but he’s just so down-to-earth and friendly that we hit it off instantly. Between takes, I’d bombard him with questions about acting, his journey, and his favourite snacks. And let me tell you, he’s a big samosa fan! I remember this one day on set when he surprised us all with a samosa party in his vanity van. He had brought samosas from his favourite snack shop for all of us.
Bollywood bucket list
Srishti aspires to work with directors like Sriram Raghavan, Zoya Akhtar, Hansal Mehta, Vishal Bhardwaj, Karan Johar, and Anurag Kashyap, along with emerging talents.
