Total Dhaamal delayed by VFX
Even though Bollywood filmmakers are trying to up their game and match international standards through the extensive use of VFX, they’re still not very good at gauging how much time post-production work will require. Now, after films like 2.0 and Manikarnika, the latest project to fall victim to severe underestimation is Total Dhamaal. The Indra Kumar film starring Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit-Nene, Riteish Deshmukh, and Arshad Warsi was to have been released on December 7, but according to Devgn’s latest tweets, it’s been postponed to February 22, 2019.
And as a result of this rescheduling, De De Pyaar De produced by Devgn, which was to have come out in February, has been pushed to April. A trade source says, “In a hurry to block dates, filmmakers often announce dates that are a tad too early, which either leads to the CG work not being up to the mark or a delay in the release of the film. Hollywood filmmakers know how VFX is done and how much time it takes, so they set dates that are comfortable for everyone working on their projects. But Indian filmmakers still need to learn that VFX takes time; they should be a little more prudent in announcing release dates.”
