The chairperson of CBFC Prasoon Joshi has refuted the claims.

There have been reports of Javed Akhtar being appointed by the Central Government to the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) but the chairperson of CBFC Prasoon Joshi has refuted the claims and said, “Mr Javed Akhtar has not at all been nominated to the Board or any panel in any capacity.”
According to the article, Javed was to join Vidya Balan, Gautami Tadimalla, Narendra Kohli, Naresh Chandra Lal, Neil Herbert Nongkynrih, Vivek Agnihotri, Waman Kendre, T.S. Nagabharana, Ramesh Patange, Vani Tripati Tikoo, Jeevitha Rajasekhar and Mihir Bhuta in the elite panel of censor board members.
