275 arrests in Sushant’s NCB case
After the arrest of actors Armaan Kohli and Gaurav Dixit in consecutive days, the Narcotics Central Bureau (NCB) is apparently planning more arrests in the drugs case pertaining to Bollywood celebrities though the NCB’s Zonal director Sameer Wankhede is mum on the details.
“I cannot speculate regarding the arrests, but we are examining many people. This is a big racket being run by this person called Ajay Singh alias Ajay Mamu. Whoever has been associated with the drug activity with this man will definitely be examined and if required some action under NDPS act will be taken,” says Wankhede who along with his team have quizzed and arrested around 275 people including film folks under the Narcotics Drugs and P Substances (NDPS) Act.
“Since Sushant Singh Rajput case was crime no 16, in 2020, in NDPS, after the drug investigation, we have arrested around 275 people and around 90 cases have been registered against Bollywood. I cannot specify personalities and celebrities. For me, there are only two sets of people. One is a clean person and the other is the one who is violating the NDPS Act.”
The arrests had started with Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik last year and saw the arrest of Ajaz Khan in March this year. Ajaz is still in jail. Others like Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Rahul Preet, Shraddha Kapoor and Arjun Rampal were also questioned and asked to surrender their mobiles and other gadgets. “We have questioned so many people that I have lost count of how many were questioned. But we will make arrests if we find any violations,” says Wankhede.
