Pooja Bhatt’s dance film Cabaret starring Richa Chadha and Gulshan Devaiah will finally see the light of day after two years of being locked in an impasse as a result of financial differences between Pooja and her co-producers T-Series and Wave.
Cabaret was to have released in 2016, and promotions had already begun then, with the songs making waves online. But the release date kept getting delayed.
Now, the film is in the process of being acquired. Says a trade source, “A notice has been issued to all the parties connected to the film, letting them know that the project is being taken over. But only the satellite and the digital rights are being bought, which means that the film may not have a theatrical release, only a digital one.”
Cabaret marks the debut of Kaustav Narayan Niyogi as a writer, director, music composer and lyricist. It was also supposed to have been cricketer Sreesanth’s debut film, and 90’s star Sharad Kapoor’s attempt at a comeback.
