Suniel-Athiya attend inter-school cricket tournament for children with special needs

Hero girl Athiya Shetty was spotted playing cricket with her father Suniel Shetty at the Air India Ground, Santa Cruz, in Mumbai. It was the venue of the Vishesh Cup 2016, the inter-school cricket tournament for children with special needs.

The father-daughter duo were seen spending some quality time with the kids, cheering them and even joining them for a friendly match, while Mana Shetty cheered on from the stands.

Speaking of the tournament that is his brainchild, Suniel said, “It’s an attempt to encourage these kids and make them play a mainstream sport. It’s a different kind of high to see them playing, believing that they are playing on a real ground like that. I want to take it to the national level.”

His daughter Athiya appears keen to realize her father’s dream. She said, “The Vishesh Cup is being held from the past few years and around 14 schools participate. No matter what background you come from, sports is a platform that gives you a sense of unity, togetherness, self-confidence and team work. It is so much fun to see these kids play and they take the game very seriously. I was very happy to be there.”
